Learning to be Christian

Learning to be Christian

Many people are frustrated with Christianity. I truly believe that this is because people do not practice true Christianity. Many people pray and pray only to ask for God’s help. They then just sit around wondering where God is. Help from God means that you understand what He is asking of you. It does not mean you just simply “believe” that Jesus is the Messiah. Christianity is a way of life. Our regular life is stubbornly uncooperative. Our best efforts sometimes fail. What can give us peace through it all? Knowing God’s will and living it!

Christianity involves more than just “hearing” it involves obedience. When we try to obey God we soon find out that something inside us is desperately wrong. There seems to be a fundamental flaw. This sense is proper; it means we are beginning to understand our need for God. The next step is to be honest and get to know God through His word. From here we learn to cooperate with God moment by moment.

Doubting God is also something we sometimes struggle with. We seem to be born doubters. This sense is also proper. This means that we must develop faith. True faith is a gift but it must be exercised. If you don’t use it you lose it. When we do not exercise true faith we become self-dependent. This causes unneeded stress. People think; “I can handle this. I have the education and experience.” But then something goes wrong. People try to excuse their dilemma by explaining; Self-preservation, self development, self-nourishment, self-care, self-expression, self-protection, self-enhancement etc. These are simply mans final aims and efforts to walk through problems.

We live in a culture that is obsessed with “self”. We are living in the days apostle Paul warned us about, these last days when “there will be terrible times,” times when “people will be lovers of themselves” [2 Timothy 3:1-2]. Because of this mind set people feel distant from God. They claim to be Christian but only trust themselves. No wonder why people are frustrated with Christianity. Fallen human nature demands: “God cannot be trusted with the things that matter most!” So what do we do? If we are truly called of God we realize the need of the Holy Spirit. We cannot expect to call ourselves Christians and operate on only the human spirit.

We must be brought to the point of surrender. We must become so terrified with ourselves that God becomes the only option.  We have to stop trying to make people see things our way. We must stop trying to create a world that only we will enjoy. As a Christian your only goal should be to please God, not yourself. Once this is accomplished you will have true peace and joy. This type of understanding goes against everything that this fallen world teaches. This is why people have a hard time believing it. Christians who have experienced this joy have a hard time explaining it to others. It simply doesn’t make sense.

Please understand: when one values God only for ‘needs’ and ‘wants’ he will never find the true Christian life. You must begin to truly study God’s word and apply what is taught. Application brings understanding and the development of personal relationship with God. My prayer is that you truly begin to experience the Love and Joy of knowing God in an active Christian life.

True survival is gained through the person of Jesus Christ

Prime instinct to survive

When SOCT talks about the “Prime Instinct” we mean the core urge or driving force within each Human being. We are here talking about that which motivates - and the idea or thought process which motivates the Human in almost all things. We are talking primarily about survival. The innate urge, need, process to survive…to live. ~

True survival is offered through Divine Intelligence [Heavenly Father] in His plan of salvation. Without this plan you will not survive, plain and simple. God created our spirits with identity seeds. We are created in the image of God and God is eternal. Thus we strive for eternal existence, we can’t help it. Many religions offer made up plans and philosophies to get people to believe in their false teachings regarding this issue. Many will spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars doing this. They pay cults and New Age movements to tell them just how to survive. ~

Every person on planet earth has the central thrust to survive through existence. People use different methods to try and achieve this. All Human goals stem from the single goal to live…survive. Jesus Christ came to help us all with this issue. Jesus Christ offers us eternal life. Those that study here at Science Of Christian Thought will come to the proper understanding of this very issue and then will become acquainted with the ultimate Plan of Salvation through Jesus Christ to truly achieve everlasting life under the best circumstances imaginable. ~

Please continue your studies here at SOCT.

~May you gain peace profound.
