A Closer Look at Man

A Closer Look at Man

-A most important study for those caught up in false concepts regarding Human Beings. Written by Mr. E.W.King. What the Bible teaches about mans abilities. People who have read this entire work have come to very important Truth. Read this entire article…begin to understand Christian Reality!

___________________________________________________________

First, let us look at what makes man so amazing in regards to basic thinking. God gave man what is called Objective Consciousness. This is what gives us the capability to put many elements, which we record in our mind, all together into a complete picture or understanding. This objective consciousness utilizes the five physical senses. These are:

1-sight

2-hearing

3-touching

4-taste

5-smell

The objective process also includes a person’s ability to think, imagine, remember, and speak. These aspects could be called Subjective Functions. This is how the basic human mind functions on a daily basis. There is an invisible element involved in the mind of man. God gave all humans what is called “the spirit of man” [Job 32:8].

The material body of man is made out of matter. Humans, and other “living” things though made of matter can experience matter through the five senses. In other words, there is another element which is outside of matter [physical realm] that is experiencing matter. We could call this the state of “Being”. Because God created us with a state of “being” and gave us abilities of reason, intellect and knowledge we have been “created in God’s image.”

Please understand; this special spirit quality in man is not conscious in and by itself. It simply joins with the physical consciousness in man and gives it [human mind] a special quality. The Bible often uses the word “spirit” in reference to mans mind. When a person dies this spirit in man returns to God. [Ecclesiastes 12:7] Not only does this special gift help impart knowledge of God’s static truth to man but it acts as a recorder. [Psalm 40:7; Revelation 13:8] Like a “thumb drive” it can record and save things to be transferred into a new body. [1 Corinthians 15:42] It records the life experiences of the individual and his or her unique identity and personality. [Psalm 87:6]

This spirit in man has the potential to become impregnated with Holy Spirit. When this happens the person becomes a true Christian. Now, as an embryo, the new Christian life begins to grow until it can be “born again” and receive the gift of eternal life in God’s kingdom in a new body. [John 3:5-8; 1 Corinthians 15:44] True comprehension of God therefore can only begin when the human spirit is impregnated with the Holy Spirit. [1 Corinthians 2:14; Proverbs 3:5-6]

Looking at Human Potential

Since every human being has a “human spirit” [spirit of man] permeating the material mind, mankind has what is called great potential. While on earth humans have many decisions to make. The most important decision has to do with ones relationship to the Creator. Though mans human spirit is mortal and limited it does have a basic concept of right and wrong and can, by God’s grace, make the ultimate decision to serve God and others the way which God intended.

Please listen closely to what I am saying and try to understand: Basic human spirit [human mind] receives revelation from God on a daily basis. The Bible basically expresses different kinds of personal revelation that we receive directly from our Creator. One is what is called “General Revelation”. This means that God has revealed Himself in creation itself. When one contemplates all the beautiful laws of science and sees the outward beauty of all creation one may begin to asks inner questions regarding Divine Design.

We read; “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.” [Psalm 19:1]. This type of revelation is through nature and thus is sometimes referred to as “natural revelation”. This type of revelation is given to ALL people though not all are capable of comprehending it.

Apostle Paul confirms this General Revelation; “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” [Romans 1:20]

We need more than just the Objective Consciousness

Humans cannot, however, completely attain the true knowledge of God by means of the objective faculties alone. Remember, the objective consciousness applies only to perception and interpretation of the material world. So to truly understand God we must receive an additional faculty…that of Holy Spirit!

Almost all fallen apostate churches teach the false doctrine that when somebody accepts Jesus Christ as his or her personal Savior he is immediately “born again” as if some magic occurred. The Bible actually teaches that when we truly have been discipled to accept Jesus Christ we are given a portion of God’s Holy Spirit. This Holy Spirit is the presence of God’s mind and power operative in the Christian. But this is more like a “germ” of holiness. This does not make us “born again” into a spiritual body. It is merely the impregnation state. True Christians have a “seed” in them. True Christians are “begotten children” of God growing in the “womb” of His “bride”, the one true church. We will receive spiritual [born again] bodies at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

When Born Again?

Jesus stated: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [John 3:3] We find this scripture in context when Nicodemus, thinking of physical birth, was perplexed. Nicodemus asked: “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?” (Verse 4). Jesus went on to state that He was speaking of a time yet to come! The fact is, Jesus was saying that you must have a completely “new body”, a spiritual body, to enter into the coming Kingdom of God.

The Bible states: “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.” [1 Corinthians 15:50] Jesus explained that there are two different kinds of birth. One is physical and the other spiritual. That which is flesh is flesh but “that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” [John 3:6] Jesus also confirmed: “The wind bloweth where it listeth [where it wills], and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and wither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” [John 3:8] This shows that “spirit beings” are invisible when they wish to be.

So only a spiritual body can inherit the Kingdom of God. Right now true Christians are heirs to the Kingdom. [Romans 8:14-17] The Church of God is not the Kingdom but instead is the Kingdom in waiting.

“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” [Galatians 3:29]

Our new bodies which inherit the Kingdom of God will be made out of Holy Spirit. Jesus; “Who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto his glories body.” [Philippians 3:21] “..when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” [1 John 3:2]

God is spirit. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
[John 4:24] This verse says that God “is Spirit”. We know that God is holy. If He is holy and spirit He must be made of Holy Spirit! To worship Him “in spirit” means that only those who have the seed of Holy Spirit can truly worship Him. When we receive our new bodies we shall enter into the realm of His spirit. We shall become children of the God Family and part of His Spirit.

So those who accept the true Jesus Christ will become “born children of God”, right now we are “begotten children of God”. We are even now taking on the new character. “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” [1 John 5:2-3]

Gain Divine Communication

To become truly enlightened with “divine perception” [Christian Reality] we must begin programming our human spirit with the Word of God. We [true Christians] must understand that the message of the Bible operates between the human mind and the printed words. Only those who have been chosen to understand it can. Interestingly, the Bible itself makes a distinction between the human mind and the spiritual mind. Christians understand the “inspiration” of the Bible. That men spoke as they were “moved by the Holy Spirit”. Jesus Himself proclaimed: “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” [John 6:63] The apostle Paul further stated that unless a person is guided by the Holy Spirit he could not understand the Scriptures in a spiritual sense.

The different phases of human consciousness are really not distinct but they all come together under the Objective Consciousness. Some use their objective senses to try and find God. However, many people today really no longer contemplate the True God of the Bible. Many just go with the flow of traditional Christianity accepting the religious concepts of their forefathers. They comfort themselves with emotionally accepted pictures like angels that guard their life and the life of their family. The basic understanding of the world’s Christianity is a God, who as a kind father forgives you your sins, who guides you in times of doubt and insecurity, and who finally takes you into his kingdom of heaven after you die, to a place where there is eternal peace and harmony and where you will be with other loved ones who have died.

All of these beliefs are accepted by most all people who attend different denominations. You see, the relationship is not really with a personal God but with an idea full of traditions. To understand yourself the world teaches psychology. The guide under the false Christian traditions becomes psychology and the false science of an evolving human that will eventually overcome sin simply by understanding his biological makeup.

People born into these concepts effects the way they view their world when they become adults. This picture memory plays a big role in the personal religious concepts. This is actually dangerous since it is not questioned by an independent search. Many never become free from false traditions of Christianity. They are stuck. They claim that they have inherited physical and mental dispositions from their parents that cannot be changed. People today do not know what to truly believe in when it comes to the question of authority on the happenings in their lives and the life of nature.

Happiness is defined simply by the satisfaction of accomplishment and good deeds. There is no real relationship, personal relationship with the True God of the Bible. The Bible teaches that true happiness comes in and through a relationship with the Living God. To truly know the God of the Bible you must understand what He teaches, what He says, what He asks of us. Many wish not to look into this. We do not become true believers by thinking alone. True belief comes through experience and life.

Many people wish to simply say; “Well, I do not really have a religion yet, which means I still hope to find it.” If this were true they would begin a serious study of God’s word. Those still searching fill this inner vacuum with the continuous pressure from the outside and therefore never escape their fundamental consciousness. Many look back on choices that they have made and wonder why they made them. Some wished that they never got married when they did. Others wish that they would have waited to have children. Some wish that they would have gone to college at a younger age. Most sit in their present world and know that there is something missing.

The world is in constant flux. We live in a powerful information age. We have more information at our fingertips than we have ever had as a human race before. We see more of what is happening every instant in different parts of the world. We see technology changing and growing into all kinds of new gadgets, toys and weapons.

Medical knowledge has increased to the point of man being able to micro manage creation itself. Space technology has begun to truly tell us just how very small we are in the greater scheme of things. In the midst of all of this the world’s religions seem to appear out of touch, medieval, out of date with the rest of the fast pace world.

Psychology has replaced the story of Christ when it comes to dealing with sin, guilt and forgiveness. Many are asking themselves; “Do I really need 'religion' in a world that I have everything I already need at my fingertips?” This is the challenge for the Christian faith especially. Where is Jesus in all of this madness?

Have an issue? Just swallow this pill, drink this formula, and say this mantra. If all else fails just go insane. The things people resort to today to deal with stress are horrifying. Many are hurting and sometimes even killing others who cross their path.

When we look at the world today we see the same crimes and violence that has been here for over 5000 years. Why can’t all the people really change? We have consolers, we have psychologists, we have so called “self-esteem” teachers but the world has not changed. We have gone from throwing rocks at each other to the creation of nuclear and biological weapons.

Mankind has all this technology but he still cannot save himself. Are human minds, full of vanity, which create theory after theory more all-knowing than God? Mankind has this idea that they are evolving into superior beings. When we turn on the news we see a very different picture. We see people shooting people. We see crime on the rise. We see people on all sorts of drugs. At the same time we see nobody talking about true morality, the Ten Commandments. We see people going as fast as they can into paganism.

The Latter-day Apostle stated: “The evolutionary theory has been invented by human minds in an effort to explain the presence of a creation without the preexistence of a divine Creator.” This allows people to have no “absolute” authority or moral principles. People have learned to “make it up” as they go. They say; “Just go with the flow.” These people are living in sin. Why? Because they follow their own ideas about Truth. The Latter-day Apostle stated: “Why do we find a world of awesome advancement and progress, yet paradoxically with appalling and mounting evils? Why cannot the minds that develop spacecraft, computers and marvels of science, technology and industry solve the problems that demonstrate human helplessness?”

Most people know that something is wrong, a sense of sin. People deal with this differently.

They have tried to deal with the problem in all the false denominational teachings, they then move on to “self-esteem” programs and right into paganism. But are they satisfied? No. What is the answer? The answer is the Truth as found in the only true Church of God. People have looked for the Truth. Some have found it others have not. Many have learned to ignore the fact of the spiritual realm all together. Many no longer believe in evil spirits. Many now believe that evil is an “idea” of mankind. They believe that if we ignore evil it will eventually go away.

Again, have we seen evil go away? No we have not. Evil is a fact and God is a fact. The Bible instructs us that: “The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom.” [Psalm 111:10] Many today have no fear of God. Their fallen idea of God is that God doesn’t really care how one lives. No guidelines, no absolutes. This false premise is why the world is in the current condition that it is in. Man may fear man, man may fear sickness and hardship and man may fear death but man does not fear God. Many believe that through self meditation, yoga, and asceticism they may conquer all troubles. Have they? No.

The only way to true change is to accept the Bible and receive the gift of the true Holy Spirit. Begin getting grounded in the Truth. Understand proper doctrine. Develop a true relationship with God through His word. Remaining in the Word will truly “renew one’s mind”. Washing your mind clean of false doctrine and error.

Being in the Church of God and learning the TRUTH, studying the Word every day, taking walks and eating right, talking and communing with other true Christians, your mind begins to change. I have found that when bad thoughts come immediately Scriptures pop up with strength to obey. “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” [2 Corinthians 10:5] Knowing God's Word is what truly saves you and gives you clarity of thought. Following God's Word is also what protects you from evil.

We are instructed: “And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the RENEWING OF YOUR MIND, that ye may PROVE WHAT IS THAT GOOD, AND ACCEPTABLE, AND PERFECT, WILL OF GOD.” [Romans 12:2] Thinking like a child of God means that we change our old ways, even if it doesn't at first make sense. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” [Proverbs 3:5,6] What this means is that we have our eyes on the Kingdom of God. Jesus said; “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto to you.” [Matthew 6:33]

Where should we look for ALL instruction? “Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read...” [Isaiah 34:16] Why? “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” [2 Timothy 3:16-17] So, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are TRUE, whatsoever things are HONEST, whatsoever things are PURE, whatsoever things are LOVELY, whatsoever things are of GOOD REPORT; if there be any VIRTUE, and if there be any PRAISE, THINK ON THESE THINGS.” [Philippians 4:8]

Set your affections on things above, and not on things on the earth.” [Colossians 3:2] Read all of Colossians chapter three! Also, “Continue in prayer.” [Colossians 4:2] As you can see there are many Scriptures which instruct us how to think like Christ. To be a true Christian is a transforming experience. As you stay in the Word and continue to pray your life will change if you are truly called of God.

Proper Prayer

As Christians we understand the importance of prayer, conversation with God. Prayer is not merely asking for things, or even thanking Him for things. It is a process of learning to listen, listen to what He is telling us. To do this we must remain in His word! Read from your Bible every day. Our Lord invites us to seek Him [Luke 11:13; Matthew 7:11; Psalm 65:2; Mark 11:23-24]. As a Christian in proper relationship with God you must be sure that your life is surrendered to His will. You must be willing to remain in “spiritual battle”, to fight for those areas of your life that are not in harmony with God to become in harmony with His way.

Be bold enough to bring everything which troubles you or concerns you to Him in prayer. Many of us immediately call a friend or somebody to talk to when we feel that we need counsel. First we must learn to honestly go to God. Don’t be afraid. Trust Him. [1 Peter 5:7; Psalm 55:22] Learn to focus on praise, gratitude and thanksgiving in all of your prayers [Philippians 1:4; Colossians 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 5:18].

The purpose of prayer is to develop a deep and personal relationship with God so that He can begin to change you and lead you into an oneness with the mind of God and the deepest fellowship with Him [Revelation 3:20; Ephesians 3:16-19]. It is good to learn how to pray in every situation. A quiet place to pray is also very important. [Mark 1:35; Jeremiah 29:13] Please realize that God will hear you wherever you are or whatever situation you might find yourself in. He [God] loves His children!

It is also good to learn to pray out loud where only God can hear you [Matthew 26:39; Luke 11:1]. Remember the times that God has brought you through hard times. We can all remember numerous times when we should have been hurt or in trouble but somehow we made it through. Do not forget the times that God was with you even when you never recognized it.

Please continue your studies with COGSR. You may send a testimony of how the true Christian teachings have helped you and we can share it with members. Thank you!

  1. Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC) is credited with the traditional classification of the five sense organs: sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. As far back as the 1760's, the famous philosopher Immanuel Kant proposed that our knowledge of the outside world depends on our modes of perception. In order to define what is "extrasensory" we need to define what is "sensory". Each of the 5 senses consists of organs with specialized cellular structures that have receptors for specific stimuli. These cells have links to the nervous system and thus to the brain. Sensing is done at primitive levels in the cells and integrated into sensations in the nervous system. Sight is probably the most developed sense in humans, followed closely by hearing.
