Legitimate Fear!

Legitimate Fear!

Please listen. Many from the fallen denominations claim that anything that gives you “fear” is not of God. This is not true! The Bible speaks of a healthy fear. For instance, if your child is living in adultery and your child gets pregnant, think of the burden this will place on her. Why is she not married to the guy to begin with? Is there a problem? Is it “true love”? Perhaps not if the guy could care less about marriage. ~

Then, what of the daughter? Does she love the guy enough to get married? If not then why the adultery and fornication? Christians understand “right and wrong” because they understand God’s Law. God’s law is the guiding light when it comes to understanding “right” from “wrong”. When I hear many denominational Christians talking today they say things like: “Cults use fear.” And I do not doubt this but what is their point? Are they trying to excuse sin in their life or the life of their child? ~

Please understand, true Christians [those of the Church of God] have God’s standard. We judge righteousness by God’s law. We do not judge it on how we “feel”. You should fear if your son or daughter is living in fornication or adultery. Why? What does this kind of sinful life lead to? A pregnant girl whom the guy will never marry. A pregnant girl whom you will have to spend the rest of your life, as a parent, trying to justify your acceptance of such a relationship? This is so very sad. ~

Yes, we should fear the consequences of sin. The Bible proclaims: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” [Proverbs 1:7] The fact is, true Christians fear the consequences of sin. Should they not? God gives us instruction not because He hates us but because He loves us. If you are breaking any of the commandments of God you better fear. The Bible states that: “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” [Romans 6:23] Notice that this verse has a warning and a promise! ~

The sad fact is many do not have a moral standard. If they do they base it on their fallen understanding and not on God’s perfect Law. Because they do not have static [unchanging] moral understanding they “make it up” as they go. God gave Church Government so that we no longer have to guess. He gave us His Church Government…”That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” [Ephesians 4:14] ~

The true Church of God points to God’s commandments as the standard. We are not “ashamed of the gospel” [Romans 1:16]. People who live without fear of the consequences of their actions are not living a Christian life. ~

Again, what do you base “right” and “wrong” on? Your own fallen and twisted
understanding? Or God’s perfect Law? ~
